 Playa Pavones is a very distinct and exotic destination which is located on the extreme Southern Pacific shores of Costa Rica. It is still a slow paced, uncrowded, and friendly little town inhabited by Ticos, Indigenous Indians, Expats, and traveling surfing enthusiasts. The last outpost on the Southern Pacific Coast, Playa Pavones is just now moving into the 21st Century. Recent infrastructure improvements including a new bridge over the Rio Coto, land line telephones, high speed internet service,  and improved roadway maintenance have made Playa Pavones much more attractive to the discerning foreigner. Here you will find a welcoming community which works together to protect the natural environment. The town offers many Cabina rental options for travelers and some nice restaurants serving local as well as international cuisine. With grocery stores, hardware stores, gift shops, miles upon miles of uncrowded beaches, and a very relaxed atmosphere, Playa Pavones is attracting more of those who are looking for the unbeaten path yet still requiring some modern conveniences. Some of the recreational activities to be enjoyed here are surfing, fishing, snorkeling, nature hiking, horseback riding along the beaches or up into the mountains, bird watching, and of course relaxing in a hammock!
